Financial Aid from the Federal Government
AWARD YEAR: July 1st, 2023 to June 30th, 2024
Most students are eligible to receive financial aid from the federal government to help pay for college or career school. Your age, race, or field of study won’t affect your eligibility for federal student aid. While your income is taken into consideration, it does not automatically prevent you from getting federal student aid.
***If you are applying to the March or May classes: When you are filling out the 2023 - 2024 FAFSA, you will need to fill out your 2024-2025 FAFSA (if available) as well. Your (and your parent's if you're under the age of 24) 2020 income taxes will be needed***

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be completed in order to apply for any of the following Financial Aid programs. The FAFSA application, along with information from your 2021 tax return will determine your eligibility for Federal Grant money and Stafford Student and Parent PLUS loans.
Award amount will be based on Expected Family Contribution (EFC) that is determined after FAFSA is completed and submitted. You can view your EFC on your Student Aid Report that you will receive once you submit your FAFSA. The FAFSA will classify you as either an independent or dependent student.

Any students who do not meet the criteria above will be classified as a dependent student and will require your parent’s tax information to complete the FAFSA.
FEDERAL PELL GRANT
The FAFSA application, along with information from your 2021 tax return (and your parents if you are under the age of 24) will determine your eligibility for Federal Grant money and Direct Student and Parent Plus loans. The maximum award is $7,395 for the 2023- 2024 award year. Additional household information may be required to establish eligibility fully.
STUDENT LOANS
Subsidized and Unsubsidized loans are federal student loans for eligible students to help cover the cost of higher education at a four-year college or university, community college, or trade, career, or technical school. The U.S. Department of Education offers eligible students at participating schools Direct Subsidized Loans and Direct Unsubsidized Loans. (Some people refer to these loans as Stafford Loans or Direct Stafford Loans.)

Parent PLUS Loan
Parent PLUS loans are federal loans that graduate or professional students and parents of dependent undergraduate students can use to help pay for college or career school. Enables parents with qualifying credit to borrow from the Government to help with education expenses for their dependent student. Loan amounts vary with qualification.
